Why refer to Updoc Psychology

Seen within 24 hours

No long waitlists — your patient can usually book a session within a day, not weeks or months.

Care without the barriers

Video sessions remove travel, time off work, mobility and regional-access hurdles that stop many patients starting therapy.

Easier for patients to start

Private sessions from home feel less daunting, and our care team handles setup, reminders and paperwork.

Low, predictable gap fees

General psychologists keep out-of-pocket costs down, so cost is rarely the barrier to your referral.

*Gap shown applies to eligible patients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) and referral, subject to Medicare eligibility. Without an MHTP, the full session fee applies ($169 general / $199 clinical). Cancellations within 12 hours are charged as a session. Assessment & report fees vary by type — provided on request.

Gaps from $49.95 a session — low, predictable out-of-pocket costs mean price rarely stands between your patient and the support they need.

How referral works

How to refer

1. Recommend Updoc. Advise your patient to visit updoc.com.au/psychologist-therapist (or search “Updoc psychology”), choose a Partner Psychologist, and upload their MHTP and referral during intake.

2. Or email a referral to us. Send to psychology@updoc.com.au and our care team will help the patient book in.

Medicare & Better Access

Eligible patients with a valid MHTP and referral can access up to 10 rebated individual sessions per calendar year, subject to Medicare eligibility. A GP review is required after the sixth session before the remaining sessions can be claimed. Rebates are $101.55 (general) and $149.05 (clinical) per session.

What to include in the referral

  • Reason for referral and presenting concerns
  • Relevant mental health and medical history
  • Current medications
  • Any risk or safety considerations
  • For rebates: a valid MHTP and a referral naming the treating Partner Psychologist or the Updoc practice
